Fredrik André Bjørkan is a Norwegian professional footballer born on 21 August 1998 in Bodø, Norway.
He plays as a left-back for Eliteserien club Bodø/Glimt and the Norway national team.
He is the son of Aasmund Bjørkan, a former Bodø/Glimt player who later served as coach and in various leadership and analysis roles at the club.
Siblings
Fredrik has a younger brother named Adrian Bjørkan.
Adrian has also pursued a career in football and has been associated with Junkeren IK.
Both brothers followed in their father’s footsteps by progressing through the Bodø/Glimt youth system.
Career
Bjørkan developed through the youth ranks of his hometown club Bodø/Glimt.
He made his senior debut in 2016 at age 17, first appearing in the Norwegian Football Cup against IF Fløya and then in the league against Molde.

He became a regular starter from 2019 onward and contributed to the club’s rise, including promotion from the Norwegian First Division in 2017 and strong performances in the Eliteserien.
In December 2021 he signed with German club Hertha BSC, joining in January 2022.
Limited playing time in the Bundesliga led to a loan move to Dutch side Feyenoord later in 2022, where he made only a handful of appearances.
In January 2023 he returned to Bodø/Glimt and re-established himself as a key player during the club’s continued domestic success and European campaigns.
On the international stage he represented Norway at under-18 and under-21 levels before earning his senior debut in a friendly against Greece on 6 June 2021.
He has gone on to earn more than 20 caps, scoring his first goal for Norway in a 6-0 friendly win over Jordan in September 2023, and was selected for Norway’s squad at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Accolades
With Bodø/Glimt, Bjørkan has won four Eliteserien titles in 2020, 2021, 2023 and 2024, along with the Norwegian Football Cup in the 2025–26 season.
He was also part of the side that claimed the Norwegian First Division title in 2017.
Individually, he was named to the UEFA Europa League Team of the Season for 2024–25 in recognition of his performances in European competition.
