Children living in vulnerable circumstances in Port-au-Prince, Haiti received a boost of hope after members of the Gang Suppression Force (GSF) community and their partners donated essential supplies to a local orphanage.
The donation exercise, held on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, was organized in collaboration with the education unit of the Haitian National Police (PNH–EDUPOL) to support children affected by the ongoing insecurity and gang violence in the capital.
During the visit, the team delivered a variety of items aimed at improving the wellbeing of the children.
The supplies included foodstuffs, clothing, sanitary and hygiene materials, detergents, mattresses, bedsheets, baby care products and sports equipment such as footballs.
The items were officially handed over to the institution by the Force Commander of the Multinational Security Support mission, Godfrey Otunge, who was accompanied by officers from the GSF and the Haitian National Police.
The visit brought moments of joy to the children, many of whom have been affected by the instability that has gripped Haiti in recent years.
Officers spent time interacting with them through songs, shared meals and friendly conversations.
The smiles and warm reception from the children reflected their appreciation for the gesture, which organizers said was meant to show solidarity with communities affected by violence.
Officials noted that such humanitarian initiatives are vital in supporting vulnerable children and restoring hope among young people living in difficult conditions.
They also encouraged more partners and institutions to support similar programs in orphanages and child care centers across the country.
The initiative underscores the growing role of security agencies not only in restoring peace but also in strengthening community support systems for those most affected by the crisis.
This comes as Kenya plans to start leaving Haiti before April 15, 2026.
Officials said the first group leaves before March 20 and will be followed with two other teams. Kenya first deployed police to Haiti in June 2024 to help in fighting gangs that were threatening to overthrow the then government.
Kenya has since reclaimed the areas the gangs were operating, restored the police service and trained more than 2000 new police officers to be left to manage security affairs.
Among the areas the personnel reclaimed was the main hospital in the capital and main highway together with the main port.
