Garbage collector fatally stabbed by colleague in argument in Kangemi

A garbage collector was stabbed and killed in an argument over money in Kangemi area, Nairobi.

Police said Alex Ambo, 30 was stabbed and killed by a fellow garbage collector following an argument at a site in Waruku area.

The assailant escaped the scene soon after the Sunday evening incident.

The deceased had an injury in the left armpit after the attack. He was declared dead in a hospital in the area.

Police visited the scene and recovered the murder weapon and the suspect’s jacket that had blood stains.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy even as the hunt on the assailant goes on.

Elsewhere in Chuka forest within Gachakoni village, Tharaka Nithi County, the body of a man was found partially burnt.

Police his left hand had been chopped off at the wrist and his legs were tied together with a sisal rope. Preliminary inquiries indicated that he was attacked by unknown suspected bodaboda riders on accusations of being a motorcycle thief.

The body was moved to Chuka Referral Mortuary pending identification and postmortem.

Police discourage mob lynching and term it criminal.

Cases of mob lynching have been on the rise amid calls on the public not to kill suspects and instead surrender them for processing.

Police say up to two cases are reported daily in a worrying trend amid efforts to address the same.

It has emerged some of those targeted are innocent people framed by the assailants for gains.
