Girl stabbed and killed in attack in Nyamira 

Police in Nyamira North Sub-County are investigating a murder incident in which a 16-year-old girl succumbed to stab wounds while receiving treatment after an alleged attack at Kinara area.

According to police at Nyamusi Police the victim, a Form Three student at Mongori High School, died May 15 while undergoing treatment.

Police visited the scene and established the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Investigators found that the deceased had attended her grandfather’s burial and was allegedly attacked at around 4am on May 14, 2026, while escorting her cousins who had attended burial arrangements.

Police said she was stabbed in the chest with a kitchen knife by a suspect identified only by the nickname “Junior,” who is believed to have been her boyfriend.

The suspect fled the scene and remains at large.

The victim was rushed to Kinara Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries while receiving treatment.

The scene was processed by investigators, and the body was moved to the hospital mortuary pending postmortem examination.

Police said investigations are ongoing, and efforts are underway to arrest the suspect.

And police in Kiambaa Sub-County are investigating the sudden death of a 21-year-old man who was found unresponsive inside his rented house in the Wisdom Pot area along Route B in Kihara.

According to the police, the incident was reported on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at about 8.34pm.

The deceased was identified as Brian Ochieng Omondi, who was found lying face-up on a bed inside his single-room house.

Preliminary investigations established that Omondi had reportedly woken up in good health earlier in the day.

At around 11.30am, he informed a neighbour that he had woken up early and intended to take a nap before returning to his room and locking the door.

Concern arose at about 6pm when neighbours noticed he had not come out of the house. They later checked on him and found him unresponsive.

Police further established that the deceased had a history of epilepsy and was known to suffer frequent collapses.

No visible injuries were observed on the body.

The scene was documented by Crime Scene Investigation officers from Kiambu, and the body was moved to Kihara Level 4 Hospital mortuary pending postmortem examination. Investigations are ongoing.
