PERFORM, the international digital sports media group has today announced the official launch of the much rumoured Goal.Com Nigeria edition. The news of the impending launch was broken early February by Complete Sports Nigeria.  With Goal.Com page impression around 15%, Goal could not ignore Nigeria any more.

Goal.Com mobile advert sales in Nigeria will be handled through InMobi while ByteSide will handle advertising sales for the full website.  70th Precinct will assist PERFORM with the distribution of Goal.com content across various OEM and communication partners. Goal.com mobile services are already available via Airtel and Etisalat in Nigeria.

The statement by the Chief Editor of Goal.com Nigeria, Lolade Adewuyi, read in part:

Whether you log onto our site from your mobile phones, your computers or your tablets, Goal.com Nigeria is the place where you will find the latest news about the Nigeria Premier League, the Super Eagles, Nigerian players in Europe, as well as talents emerging in the country’s youth ranks.

Goal.com averages around 22 Million unique visitors currently over 200,000 visitors accessing the site through mobile daily. Nigeria is still a producer of the largest number of great footballers from Africa. Football is also a uniting factor in the country with many challenges affecting ethnic cohesion/relations.

Kenya has a poor track record in World Football but the country still has some of the most passionate soccer lovers. Goal.Com might not be thinking of a Kenyan dedicated site but Kenyans themselves needs to exploit such an opportunity.
