During the Mashemeji Derby, Gor Mahia skipper Musa Mohammed turned the ball into his own net under pressure from Sammy Ndungu’s cross to give Leopards the lead in the 19th minute.

Robinson Kamura’s defensive miss was however punished by Rwandan forward Meddie Kagere to tie the match 1-1 before first half.

Ingwe showed rare steal – standing up to the hosts who were largely expected to win the tie for the fourth straight time.

Every attack by the marauding Gor Mahia forwards yielded no fruits as coach Robert Matano kept his word of opening a new chapter against the bitter rivals.

The draw was the 31st between the two teams in KPL and the first for Gor Mahia coach Dylan Kerr, who had won five of his five previous outings since taking over at the club.

In total, the oldest and most successful Kenyan clubs have now clashed 83 times in the topflight.
