The Governor of West Pokot County Mr. John Lonyangapuo has come up with new dressing code for his county workers. The governor said that most of the county officials have been wearing “indecent” clothes while going to work and it was time to change the norm.
He said that female workers are not supposed to wear miniskirts or trousers while going to work, the men on the other hand are only allowed to wear suits with ties.He went ahead and said that those who are unable to purchase a suit will be referred to various county polytechnics who would tailor for them at an affordable price.

“Miniskirts, halter tops and female trousers are not among preferred or acceptable attire. I will not accept (to have) my county officers to wear them,” he said.
The governor issued stern warning while he was addressing county official staff who had attended a brain storming meeting saying that those who do not adhere to the changes would face disciplinary action.
Nurses are also among the workers affected by these changes,he said that all nurses should be in their official uniforms at all times.County revenue collectors on the other side have to wear their yellow coats and a badge will soon be provided to them too.
Most of the county staff did not like the changes as they claimed that the governor was was little too harsh and the dressing code would not work for all the county workers,
“We don’t expect field officers and engineers to put on suits as they are always in the field inspecting development projects. Some of us deal with machines and the new dress code will not work,” said a worker.
