Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has criticized a private investor alleged to have grabbed a road reserve leading to a local primary school in Kiambu county.

This is following a report aired on K24, that a private investor had taken over a road reserve meant for the construction of a road leading to King’othua Primary School in Karuri area.

Area residents who termed the the businessman as a ‘notorious land grabber’ took to the streets to  condemn the act. They said school going children are being forced to walk for four kilometers to access their school.

To them, going to the streets was their last resort after efforts to stop the investor from building on public land bore no fruits.

On his part, Governor Sonko said the same investor who is frustrating school going children in Kiambu is the same business man who had grabbed a public parking, toilet and a section of Nairobi Fire Station in Nairobi County and constructed a five star hotel.

In a lengthy Facebook post, Governor Sonko expressed his disappointments on how the police handled residents protesting the heinous act.

“When the area residents, pupils and parents of the said school led peaceful demonstrations against the crooked tycoon, they were repulsed by a contingent of anti-riot police,” Sonko wrote.

Further, Sonko accused the businessman of displacing thousands of Nairobi residents when he had their houses demolished.

“This shameless tycoon, recently displaced thousands of Nairobians by demolishing their legally and innocently acquired houses,” he said.

He however, disclosed that he won’t mention his name as the ‘tycoon’ had sought restraining orders against him.

“I can’t mention his name here cause he has already rushed to court and obtained a temporary order restraining me from mentioning his name and several public utilities already grabbed by him.”

The Nairobi boss has now vowed to take up the case until justice is served to the poor kids suffering under the hands of ”untouchable’ individuals.

“Alluta continua until justice is served to cure this kind of IMPUNITY.It’s very unfortunate and unfair for poor kids to be made to walk long distances yet there is a gazetted public road leading to the school but has been blocked and hogged by the selfish “untouchable”.
