Govt Advertises Chairperson, Members for Ministerial Audit Committee

The Ministry of Gender, Culture and Children Services has invited applications for the positions of Chairperson and three members of its Ministerial Audit Committee.

In a notice dated Tuesday, April 28, 2026, the Ministry said the Chairperson must be independent of national government entities, not hold any political office, and possess strong knowledge of the organisation’s mandate alongside proven leadership and business management skills. Applicants are required to hold a degree from a recognised university, have at least seven years’ experience in audit, financial management or accounting, and be a member in good standing of a relevant professional body. They must also demonstrate expertise in risk management and meet the integrity requirements outlined under Chapter Six of the Constitution.

The Chairperson will be responsible for ensuring proper documentation of committee proceedings, including taking minutes and circulating them before subsequent meetings. They will also be expected to facilitate access to management, internal audit, and external auditors, issue notices of meetings at least 14 days in advance, and ensure dissemination of approved minutes.

For the three member positions, applicants must not be current or former employees of the Ministry or its entities, nor have worked for or represented any organisation that has done business with the Ministry in the past two years. Candidates must hold a degree from a recognised university, have at least five years of relevant work experience, and be members in good standing of a professional body. They must also demonstrate knowledge of public sector operations and meet Chapter Six integrity requirements.

The members will be tasked with supporting the Accounting Officer on matters of risk management, control and governance, while ensuring management retains responsibility for implementation. They will also oversee follow-up on audit recommendations, approve internal audit annual work plans and budgets, and assess the effectiveness of internal audit functions.

The Chairperson and members will serve a non-renewable term of three years, renewable once for a further three years. Their roles and responsibilities will be guided by standards issued by the Public Sector Accounting Standards Board.

The Ministry said members will receive sitting allowances for meetings, as determined by the National Treasury in consultation with relevant bodies, and may be reimbursed for expenses incurred while undertaking official duties.

Interested applicants are required to submit detailed CVs, academic and professional certificates, testimonials, and a copy of their national ID in a sealed envelope addressed to the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Gender, Culture and Children Services, 5th Floor, Maktaba Kuu Building, Upper Hill, P.O. Box 30221–00100, Nairobi. Applications may also be sent via email to cs@gender.go.ke or delivered to the Cabinet Secretary’s office at the same address.
