nakuru murder

A police officer attached to the General Service Unit’s elite Recce unit was electrocuted as he washed his bicycle at their camp in Mugutha, Juja, Kiambu County.

Constable Benedict Oduori was busy washing his bicycle using an electric machine within their Kimbo camp when he was electrocuted on Saturday October 25, 2025.

Police said other colleagues saw him fall as he was busy with the washing chores and rushed to his rescue in vain. He died while being attended to, police said.

The body was moved to the mortuary where an autopsy confirmed he had sustained serious burns out of the electrocution.

Police said they are investigating the tragedy. His colleagues mourned him as a hard working and dedicated officer. Recce officers are used in different special operations and are regarded as elite in the National Police Service.

Meanwhile, a 12-year-old herder was seriously injured by an explosive device at a field in Kamanga Hills, Samburu County.

The boy was taking care of their livestock when he stumbled on the explosive. He stepped on it before it went off injuring him on his head, stomach and knees. He was rushed to the hospital and admitted in serious condition, police said.

The explosive is believed to have been abandoned there by security teams conducting drills in the region.

The remnants of the explosive were picked up for analysis, police said.
