Guard killed in night robbery in Bungoma

A guard was Friday night killed while on duty at Minaj Supermarket in a robbery along the Bungoma–Mumias Road at Musikoma area.

The incident is the latest in a worrying surge of robbery-with-violence cases reported around Bungoma town and its environs.

According to investigators, the attackers gained access to the premises during the night and fatally assaulted the guard using sharp objects, leaving him dead at the scene.

Police launched investigations into the attack and are appealing to members of the public to share any information that may help track down the suspects.

Authorities have also urged business owners to enhance security measures as efforts continue to curb the rising insecurity in the region.

In Kegati area, Kisii County, 25-year-old was found dead on the roadside after a suspected murder.

Police identified the man as Joseph Mogeni.

The body was found lying on the road near Nyosia Secondary long after his murder.

Police said the body had multiple stab wounds and that it was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

The motive of the January 16 murder is yet to be known.

Elsewhere, a family is demanding answers following the tragic and mysterious death of 23-year-old Dec Muniko Paul in Thika Town, Kiambu County.

He reportedly fell from the fifth floor of his apartment during a police operation.

According to the family, police officers raided Dec’s home, less than a kilometre from Makongeni police station, on Thursday evening on an undisclosed mission.

The circumstances surrounding his fall have sparked speculations he may have been pushed.

Witnesses said police from Makongeni station raided the house where Dec was with two other people. In the chaos that followed, he fell to the ground and died.

His body was later collected from the apartment and taken to General Kago mortuary, where an autopsy confirmed the cause of death as blunt force trauma from multiple injuries consistent with a fall.
