Guard Killed Outside A Church In Juakali, Kakamega County

A night guard was hacked to death in an attack at a church in Juakali area, Kakamega County.

The body of Pius Ngwete, 55 was found outside the Maraba SDA Church in the area hours after his murder.

The body had deep cuts in the head and was lying outside the premises on July 1 in the evening.

The motive of the murder is yet to be known as there was nothing that was stolen from the church.

Police visited the scene and moved the body to the mortuary pending autopsy and investigations.

Police said no arrest has been made so far.

Elsewhere in Nyaramba, Nyamira County a boy fell and died after he slid off a tree he had climbed.

The boy had climbed there for trimming when he fell off on July 1.

Police said the juvenile, aged 16 had been asked to help in trimming the tree when the incident happened. He fell headfirst and died on the spot.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy. And in Tharaka Nithi County’s Chiakariga a man died after consuming suspected poisonous honey.

A second man is admitted in hospital after he also took the same honey.

Police said they are yet to establish how and why the honey was laced with the said poison and that an investigation had been opened.

In Kamukunji, Uasin Gishu County a suspect who had been arrested died in hospital after complaining of chest pains.

Police said the man had been arrested over the theft of cows and detained at the station before he complained of pain and rushed to hospital, where he died.

Officials from the Independent Policing Oversight Authority were alerted to join the probe into the death of the suspect.

Cases where suspects die in custody are investigated by IPOA.
