Halston Jean Schrage, professionally known as Halston Sage, is an American actress born on May 10, 1993, in Los Angeles, California.

Raised in a Jewish household by parents Lenny and Tema Schrage, Sage showed an early passion for the arts and performance.

Before her acting career took off, she was an accomplished equestrian, competing for eight years, and served as the editor of her high school newspaper.

Sage began modeling at age 14, but her love for acting led her to pursue roles in television and film, where she has since become a recognizable figure in Hollywood.

Known for her roles in series like How to Rock, The Orville, and Prodigal Son, as well as films such as Paper Towns and Neighbors, Sage has built a diverse and impressive career.

Siblings

Halston is the eldest of three children, with two younger siblings, a brother named Max Sage and a sister named Kate Sage.

Max, whose real surname is Schrage but often uses Sage in public profiles, is Halston’s younger brother.

He is an entrepreneur and currently serves as the Director of Experiences at Blade, a company focused on enhancing travel and flying experiences.

Kate, born on July 24, is Halston’s younger sister and the youngest of the Schrage siblings.

Career

Sage’s acting career began in 2011 when she landed the role of Grace King on the Nickelodeon teen sitcom How to Rock (2012), which ran for 25 episodes and marked her breakout role.

Her early work also included guest appearances on Nickelodeon shows like Victorious (2011) as Sadie and Bucket & Skinner’s Epic Adventures.

In 2013, Sage joined the NBC thriller Crisis as Amber Fitch, showcasing her ability to handle dramatic roles alongside stars like Gillian Anderson.

Sage’s film career gained traction with roles in The Bling Ring (2013), directed by Sofia Coppola, and Grown Ups 2 (2013), where she acted alongside Adam Sandler.

In 2014, she played Brooke Shy in the comedy Neighbors, starring Zac Efron and Seth Rogen, earning a nomination for an MTV Movie Award for Best Kiss with co-star Rose Byrne.

The following year, Sage portrayed Lacey Pemberton in Paper Towns (2015), based on John Green’s novel, and appeared in Goosebumps (2015) and Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse (2015).

From 2017 to 2019, Sage starred as Lieutenant Alara Kitan in the Fox/Hulu sci-fi series The Orville, created by Seth MacFarlane, though she left the show in 2019 with an open-ended departure.

She then took on the role of Ainsley Whitly in the Fox procedural drama Prodigal Son (2019–2021), further solidifying her television presence.

Sage has also ventured into video games, voicing and motion-capturing Emma Mountebank in the 2022 horror game The Quarry.
