Early Life
Heidi India Range was born on May 23, 1983, in Liverpool, England.
She developed an interest in performing at a young age and began taking dance lessons when she was just three years old.
As a teenager, Range auditioned for the pop group Scooch but was considered too young.
In 1998, she became one of the original members of Atomic Kitten alongside Kerry Katona and Liz McClarnon. However, Range left the group before it released its first commercial material.
Atomic Kitten later became a major success, but Range had already moved on and continued pursuing a career in music.
Her biggest opportunity came in 2001 when she auditioned for the Sugababes.
Heidi Range and the Sugababes
Range joined the Sugababes in 2001, replacing Siobhán Donaghy.
At the time, the group consisted of Range, Keisha Buchanan and Mutya Buena.
The new lineup quickly became successful.
Their first single together, Freak Like Me, reached No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart in 2002. The follow-up, Round Round, also topped the chart.
The songs helped propel the group’s second album, Angels with Dirty Faces, to major commercial success.
The Sugababes continued their winning run with the album Three. It produced the No. 1 single Hole in the Head, along with other successful songs such as Too Lost in You and In the Middle.
The group’s commercial success reached another high point with Taller in More Ways in 2005.
The album topped the UK Albums Chart, while Push the Button became one of the group’s most recognizable songs. The single spent three weeks at No. 1 in the UK.
More Sugababes Success
Mutya Buena left the Sugababes in 2005 and was replaced by Amelle Berrabah.
The lineup change did not slow the group’s success.
The new trio released Change, which reached No. 1 in the UK. Its lead single, About You Now, also topped the singles chart and remained at No. 1 for four weeks.
Range remained with the group through another major lineup change.
In 2009, Keisha Buchanan left and Jade Ewen joined the group. This resulted in a Sugababes lineup made up entirely of members who had not been part of the original trio.
The new lineup released Sweet 7 in 2010.
The group later went on an indefinite hiatus.
Buchanan, Buena and Donaghy eventually reunited and reclaimed the Sugababes name. Range has not been part of the group’s revived original lineup.
Heidi Range’s Television and Theatre Career
After the Sugababes went on hiatus, Range began exploring other areas of entertainment.
In 2012, she competed on the seventh season of ITV’s Dancing on Ice.
She followed this with an appearance on Celebrity MasterChef in 2013.
Range also moved into musical theatre.
In 2014, she played Pinky Tuscadero in a touring production of Happy Days: A New Musical.
Two years later, she appeared as Beth in the West End production of Jeff Wayne’s The War of the Worlds.
Her television work continued with appearances including Abbey Clancy: Celebrity Homes.
Range was also selected as one of the UK’s jurors for the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest.
She has worked with the NSPCC as one of the charity’s Campaigners for Childhood.
Heidi Range’s Return to the Stage
Range returned to the spotlight in recent years after spending much of her time raising her children.
In 2025, she appeared in the BBC documentary series Girlbands Forever, where she reflected on her years with the Sugababes.
She discussed the demanding touring schedule, media attention and body criticism experienced by young women in the music industry.
In 2026, Range made a surprise appearance during Appleton’s performance at London’s Mighty Hoopla festival.
She joined Nicole and Natalie Appleton on stage to perform Round Round and Pure Shores.
The appearance marked an important return to live pop performance after years away from the stage.
Heidi Range’s Personal Life
Range was previously in a long-term relationship with television and radio presenter Dave Berry. The pair became engaged before ending their relationship in 2011.
She later began dating property developer Alex Partakis.
The couple married in Florence, Italy, in 2016.
They have two daughters. Aurelia was born in 2018, while Athena was born in 2021.
Following the birth of her children, Range significantly reduced her entertainment commitments.
She focused on raising her family while maintaining occasional television and public appearances.
As her daughters grew older, she gradually returned to performing and other entertainment projects.
Heidi Range’s Real Estate
Property has been another important part of Range’s financial portfolio.
In 2015, Heidi Range and Alex Partakis purchased an unfinished property inside a former Edwardian commercial laundry building in Fulham, West London.
The property was essentially an empty shell when they bought it. It lacked finished rooms, plumbing and conventional residential interiors.
The couple spent about two years transforming the space into a family home.
The finished property covered approximately 4,124 square feet and included five bedrooms across three floors.
It featured custom joinery, marble finishes, a large roof terrace and a home cinema area.
The home also included an internal glass-walled garage where Partakis kept a vintage 1972 Ferrari Dino.
In 2024, Range and Partakis placed the Fulham property on the market for £5.3 million.
The couple had been considering a move to a more rural area in Surrey with their daughters.
