High Court Rejects Martha Karua Petition To Nullify Entire Election

The High Court In Kirinyaga has rejected the petition by Martha Karua where she had asked the court to nullify the whole of the August 8 polls.

Martha Karua who had gone to court seeking to nullify the entire election saying that the the elections were run by the same electoral body,the same officials, the same electronic gadgets and were subjected to the same transmission mechanisms similar to the ones of the nullified presidential petition.

She said that the lower court were bound by the decision of the Supreme Court and that the September 1, decision informed her decision to petition against the August 8 polls.

Martha Karua through her Lawyer Gitobu Imanyara had earlier made an application to the Chief Justice  under a certificate of urgency to have the matter heard by a three judge bench as prescribed under article 165 of the constitution.

In response to Martha Karua Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru through lawyer Mr. Nyamodi said that the decision of the Supreme court ought not to inform the decision of the High Court as the Narc Kenya party leader had failed to give substantive reasons to show the process was floated.

Martha Karua had vied for the gubernatorial  seat in Kirinyaga and lost to current Governor Anne Waiguru
