Honeymoon Over As Governor Nyong’o’s Administration And Senator Outa Now At Loggerheads

Kisumu’s  Governor Anyang Nyong’o and the County’s Senator Fred Outa were in bed in the period leading to August election but it seems the honeymoon is over.

The union that saw Outa deliver the coveted Kano votes to Nyong’o’s basket is a troubled one. Outa has since accused Nyong’o’s administration of corruption, sentiments that has seen the Governor’s aides go harm on the Senator.

They claim his sentiments are being pushed by his 2022 gubernatorial bid.

The Star reported that Outa accused acting county secretary Olang’o Onudi and Abala Wanga – the former director of administration – of awarding Sh200 million road tenders without following procedure.

He claimed  that the two officers awarded the tenders to their cronies thus ignoring  Public Procurement Act which requires open tendering for qualified people to be contracted and asked the governor to take action against them.

Outa did not fail to mention his role in Nyong’o’s election claiming he ‘fought hard’ but the governor’s aides say Outa is selfish and over ambitious seeking a 50 percent share in governing the County.

“The Senator should understand that there is no coalition or power-sharing government in Kisumu, therefore, his demand for a 50 per cent share of the government is wicked and unconstitutional,” Wanga said adding that Outa haboured false whims of being the force behind Nyongo’s government.

Wanga accused Outa of fashioning Nyongo’s government as ‘a passing government’ and that his ‘lies are aimed at political mileage ahead of 2022.”

The two hit out at Outa saying he should fathom his position as Senator devoid of conspiracy theories and baseless attacks he and his dark forces spew on Nyongo’s government.

Wanga told Outa to go  to the Governor’s office and seek clarification from relevant officers if he was genuine instead of “shouting at funerals ,” and explained that not a single tender for any development project has been awarded to any firm since Nyong’o took the County helm.

The Governor’s political adviser told the Outa to face Nyong’o if he has a problem with him instead of attacking technocrats in his administration. He noted that the National government is yet to release funds and asked the Senator to push for the same as part of his role.
