Details have emerged how popular biker and motorcycle enthusiast Luhya Kidd Jnr, also known as Gustavo Rides and his wife died following a road crash.

Police said the rider Elvis Kamala, 29 and his wife Diana Mwai, 28 who was a pillion passenger died following a fatal road traffic accident along the Northern Bypass near the Potter House barrier in Runda, Nairobi.

According to police, the accident occurred on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at around 4:30 p.m. and involved a Toyota Succeed and the motorcycle, a Ducati.

The two were travelling from Marurui towards Ruaka.

Police reports indicate that the Toyota Succeed joined the main road from UN Avenue without due care.

The motorcycle subsequently rammed into the right side of the vehicle, causing the rider and passenger to fall onto the tarmac.

Kamala sustained fractures on both legs and died on the spot, while Mwai suffered severe head injuries and succumbed while being rushed to hospital.

Police officers from Runda Police Station visited the scene and processed it before moving the bodies to the Kenyatta University Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary, where they are awaiting postmortem examination and preservation.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.

In a heartfelt message, his close friend Mbeche Samuel described him as a passionate rider who inspired many within the biking community.

Samuel recalled that the journey began in 2021 when Luhya Kidd Jnr bought his first Chinese motorcycle, an experience that brought him immense joy and marked the start of his growth in the biking world.

“We joined the biking world almost at the same time,” Samuel said, noting that the late rider’s simple gestures — such as liking and commenting on fellow bikers’ posts — helped build a strong sense of community.

Over time, Luhya Kidd Jnr grew into a motorcycle dealer and rode a wide range of bikes from different countries including China, Japan and Germany.

Recently, he had acquired an Italian Ducati, a machine his friend said symbolized how far he had come in the biking scene.

Despite riding many bikes, Samuel said one that seemed particularly special to him was a yellow Yamaha that he often rode with pride.

Friends described him as a humble and friendly man who related easily with people and was admired within the biker fraternity.

“He wasn’t a perfect man — none of us are — but he was among the best his friends and family had,” Samuel wrote.

The tribute also served as a call for greater road safety, urging bikers and motorists alike to bring sanity back to the roads as road accidents continue to claim many lives.

“Helmet down today,” Samuel wrote, ending the tribute with a message of farewell.

Luhya Kidd Jnr was born in 1994 and died in 2026. His death has left the biking community mourning a young man remembered for living his passion for motorcycles.
