How To Change Email On Facebook
Your email address is one of the most important details on your Facebook account because it is used for logging in, password recovery, and receiving notifications. If you have a new email or no longer use the one linked to your profile, it’s important to update it to keep your account secure and accessible. Facebook allows you to easily change or add a new email address through the website or mobile app.
- Log In to Your Facebook Account
Start by opening Facebook on your computer browser or mobile app. Enter your current email or phone number and password to log in. Once you are logged in, you can manage your account settings from the main menu.
- Go to Settings and Privacy
On the Facebook website, click the downward arrow at the top right corner of the screen, then select Settings & Privacy and choose Settings.
If you are using the Facebook app, tap the menu icon (three horizontal lines), scroll down to Settings & Privacy, and then tap Settings.
- Open Personal Information
In your account settings, locate and select Personal Information. This section contains your name, contact details, and other personal information linked to your Facebook profile. Tap or click on Contact Info to view the email address currently connected to your account.
- Add a New Email Address
To change your email, you must first add a new one before removing the old one. Click or tap Add Email Address and type in your new email. Make sure the email address is valid and accessible since Facebook will send a confirmation message to it. After entering your new email, click Add or Continue.
- Confirm Your New Email
Go to your email inbox and open the confirmation message sent by Facebook. Click on the confirmation link provided in the email to verify your new address. Once confirmed, your new email will appear as one of your contact options on Facebook.
- Set the New Email as Primary
After confirming your new email, return to the Contact Info section on Facebook. Select your new email and click Make Primary to set it as the main login and contact address for your account. This means you can now use it to log in or recover your password.
- Remove the Old Email (Optional)
If you no longer use the old email address, you can remove it from your account for security reasons. Click Remove next to the old email, and Facebook will delete it after confirming your choice.
- Save and Log Out
Once you have set your new email and removed the old one, click Save Changes to finalize the process. Log out and log back in using your new email to confirm that everything works properly.
