How To Clear iPhone

Whether you’re selling your device, passing it on, or simply starting fresh, clearing your iPhone is a straightforward process. Clearing an iPhone means erasing all your personal data, apps, settings, and returning the phone to its original factory state. This ensures that none of your information remains on the device. Below is a step-by-step guide on how to clear iPhone.
- Back Up Your Data
Before you erase anything, make sure your important data is saved:
- Using iCloud:
Go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > iCloud Backup and tap Back Up Now. - Using iTunes/Finder (on a computer):
Connect your iPhone to the computer, open iTunes or Finder, select your iPhone, and choose Back Up Now.
- Sign Out of iCloud and Apple ID
This is important because the phone is linked to your Apple ID through Activation Lock.
- Go to Settings > [your name]
- Scroll down and tap Sign Out
- Enter your Apple ID password to confirm
This step ensures the next user can activate the device without issues.
- Erase All Content and Settings
Once your data is backed up and you’re signed out of iCloud:
- Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone
- Tap Erase All Content and Settings
- Enter your passcode or Apple ID password if prompted
- Confirm that you want to erase the device
Your iPhone will then restart and begin the erasing process. This may take a few minutes.
- Set Up as New or Power Off
After your iPhone restarts, you’ll see the initial “Hello” screen:
- If you’re giving the iPhone to someone else, press the side button to turn it off
