How To Delete A YouTube Video

If you have a YouTube channel and want to remove a video you’ve uploaded, you can easily do it through the YouTube app or website. You might want to delete a video because of outdated content, copyright issues, or simply because you no longer want it visible to the public. Deleting a video permanently removes it from your channel and viewers will no longer be able to access it, so make sure you’re certain before proceeding. Here is how to delete a YouTube video.
- Open YouTube and Sign In
Go to youtube.com or open the YouTube app on your phone. Sign in with the Google account linked to your YouTube channel.
- Access Your Channel Content
On the website, click on your profile picture at the top-right corner and select YouTube Studio. In the Studio dashboard, click on Content in the left-hand menu. This will show you a list of all the videos you’ve uploaded.
On the app, tap your profile picture, then tap Your Channel, and go to the Videos tab.
- Choose the Video to Delete
Find the video you want to delete. On the website, hover your mouse over the video title and click the three-dot menu (more options). On the app, tap the three-dot menu next to the video.
- Delete the Video
On the website, click Delete forever. A warning will pop up asking you to confirm the deletion. Tick the box confirming you understand the action is permanent, then click Delete forever.
On the app, tap Delete and confirm your choice. The video will be removed from your channel and viewers won’t be able to see it anymore.
- Consider Private or Unlisted Instead (Optional)
If you don’t want to delete a video permanently but want to hide it from the public, you can set its visibility to Private or Unlisted instead. This can be done from the same menu where you manage your video settings in YouTube Studio.
