    Hundreds Line Up To View Bishop Cornelius Korir’s Body (Photos)

    bishop korirThe late Bishop Cornelius Korir’s body was earlier today moved from the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital Morgue and taken for viewing at Eldoret Catholic Diocese in Eldoret town.

    Thousand’s of residents, Bishops and state officials are said to have attended the church where viewing of the body and requiem mass was conducted.

    Businesses came to a stand still in Eldoret town as Kenyans and Catholic congregants lined up to pay their last respects to the bishop.

    The peace loving bishop is set to be buried on Saturday at a room inside the church in accordance to the catholic church doctrine.

    bishop korirSeveral state officials including President Uhuru Kenyata and his Deputy Honorable William, Ruto are expected to attend the burial which will take place at Eldoret sports club.

    Security measures have been put in place and only few persons will be allowed inside the church for the official burial.

    “The cortege will then leave for burial inside the church at around 3 pm where only accredited people including journalists will be allowed in. We only expect 3,000 people at the church grounds,” confirmed Father Njoroge who is in charge of communication.

    Rift Valley regional coordinator Wanyama Musiambo and presidential protocol office are said to have inspected the venues where the mass is scheduled and have so far confirmed that all is in place. Most roads leading to the church will be closed indefinitely.

    “All is set for the burial. We’ve put in place all the security arrangements for the bishop’s burial,” said Mr Musiambo.

    Residents and members of the general public have also been advised to show up in large numbers in order to pay their last respects as the Bishop was regarded as a people’s person.

    “Everything is on top gear at the St John’s Sacred Heart of Jesus Cathedral. We are asking members of the public to come in large numbers and pay their last respects to the late Bishop because he was a Bishop for everyone,” said Father Njoroge.
