ICT CS Joe Mucheru has said that he is not in a position to explain the switch off that was experienced by 4 media stations saying that only president Uhuru Kenyatta can explain.
He explained to the committee that the directive to shut down the media houses came from the National Security council which is chaired by the president.
“I can not comment on the TV shutdown…” ICT CS,Joe Mucheru said to the senate committee.
This is the third time the Cs had been called upon to give an explanation over the matter after skipping the invite two times.

During the swearing of Raila Odinga as the people’s president four TV stations were switched off over unclear circumstances. Staff allied to some of the T.V stations were threatened with arrest and they were forced to seek anticipatory bail.
The courts ordered that the stations be returned on air after activist Okiya Omtatah file a case in court. The orders were defied even after the courts summoned the Interior CS to do so immediately they were reinstated after seven days.
