ICC Now Target ‘The Star’ Journalist Oliver Mathenge Over Documents Leakage

Is the ICC targeting a second Kenyan journalist for leaking confidential information to the public? The courts latest protest delivered by 3 judge bench last week points to a frustrated court which is not going to stop prosecuting the small fish to tame the key suspects.

Already, word around the ICC corridors is that the court is so unhappy with journalist Oliver Mathenge of Radio Africa’s The Star that they might have him indicted over the leakages.

Presiding judge Kuniko Ozaki, Robert Fremr and Geoffrey Henderson cited two instances in which journalist Oliver Mathenge quoted classified documents directly. This has angered the prosecution which has now called for reclassification some documents.

Oliver becomes the second journalist after Walter Baraza to be targeted by the International Criminal Court over leaking confidential data to unauthorised personnel. ICC believes that Oliver, just like Walter, is very close to President Uhuru who is facing various charges at the court.
