Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) CEO, Ezra Chiloba has returned to work after staying away from work for 45 working days.

Chiloba was under immense pressure from the opposition to resign from the commission. He was accused of having bungled the August 8 election in favour of Jubilee.

He resumes work at the Anniversary Towers on Thursday, 4 January after he took a ‘personal decision to be away in order to build confidence in stakeholders’ a week before the October 26 repeat polls.

Also demanding for him to step-aside was IEBC Chairperson, Wafula Chebukati who demanded that officials mentioned ‘adversely’ after the annulled election take a leave of absence.

His return comes at a peculiar time when the opposition (NASA) has threatened to swear in their leaders, Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka should the government not engage in talks ‘electoral reforms.’

The NASA brigade says that they have in their possession the logs from the IEBC servers, which recorded the voting results from each county and from each polling station in the country. The figures, they say, show that Mr Odinga comfortably won the election by over a million votes.

Odinga and Kalonzo, word has it, will be sworn in on January 30 at the Uhuru Park because the Supreme Court had nullified the declaration of Uhuru Kenyatta as President, but did not nullify the result of that election.
