The IEBC has dropped lawyers Paul Muite and Patrick Lumumba who represented them in the first presidential petition in which the Supreme court nullified the August 8 elections
The two prominent lawyers represented the commission and the chairman of the IEBC, Wafula Chebukati in a petition by filed NASA challenging the election of Uhuru Kenyattawhere the court cited irregularities and illegalities that led to the nullification of the election
Many people said that the legal prowess of this lawyers was not exhibited in the petition with Paul Muite hitting an all time low by claiming that the IEBC servers were in Europe and that their service providers had not woken up as a reason for the commission not giving access to servers as was directed by the courts.

The team will be now be led by Lawyer Waweru Gatonye who is famed for his appointment in the commission of inquiry as lead counsel for the Central bank in the sale of the the Grand Regency Hotel.
The other lawyers include Kamau Karori, Eric Gumbo, George Murugu, Wambua Kilonzo, Kimani Muhoro, Mahat Somane and Lucy Kambuni.
The lawyers will represent the IEBC in the new petition challenging the re election petition that was filed by former Kilome MP Harun Mwau and activist Okiya Omtatah.
