During a an interview on Citizen TV on Tuesday, IEBC commissioner Roslyn Akombe has accepted to resign should she be found guilty of engaging in any electoral malpractices during the August 8 elections.
“If there is anything that comes and touches on my integrity and ability to perform, I will step down. If the relevant authorities find me guilty of anything that happened during the election process i will not hesitate to resign,” Akombe said.
She refused to comment on the position of her colleagues who had also been accused of electoral malpractices.
This follows reports that IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba has maintained that he will not step down despite demonstrations by the National Super Alliance coalition seeking to have him removed.
Chiloba insists he will take part in the officiating the October 26 presidential poll.
The IEBC CEO was seen watching protesters from a window of the Anniversary Towers IEBC headquarters as they chanted for his removal.
The opposition has been adamant about removing Chiloba claiming he favors the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta, however, Chiloba insists he remains neutral.
