The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairperson Erastus Edung Ethekon Saturday revealed that resources have been made available for the upcoming by-elections set to take place on November 27, 2025.

Speaking during a consultative meeting with representatives of 91 political parties at Maanzoni Lodge in Machakos County, Ethekon assured Kenyans the commission is ready to preside over the mini polls and that preparations are in top gear to deliver the exercise.

This is after the National Treasury made available money for the exercise.

“We would like to assure the country and the citizens of this beautiful republic of Kenya that all preparations are the top gear and the resources that we were looking for in order to conduct a successful by elections are now available to us,” he stated.

“Where there were shortages we’ve had very candid and honest and fruitful discussions with our national treasury who have since then unlocked that and therefore there’s no reason whatsoever why we should not have the by elections as planned.”

IEBC, the political parties liaison committee and the registrar of political parties pledged to work together by signing an MOU that will guide the joint engagement and consultation forums ahead of the November by-elections.

“I would like to brief the nation that this morning up to this afternoon we’ve had a very fruitful engagement with our political parties through the political party liaisons on the committee platform together with the office of Registrar of the Political Parties (and as I prior tripatised) group,” he noted.

“We have discussed a number of issues on our levels of preparedness not only for 2027 general election but also for the by-elections and the voter registration exercises and campaign that we are launching next week beginning of Monday, September 29.”
