Police in Mathioya Sub-County, Murang’a County, launched investigations following the discovery of a dead infant in a water tunnel.

Police said the incident was reported by an employee working on tunnel maintenance at the Metumi hydrogen water intake facility.

Police officers who rushed to the scene at Kiamahindu Village established that the body of an unknown male infant, estimated to be about two months old, had been dumped inside the water tunnel.

The child’s body was found naked and, according to preliminary observations, had no visible physical injuries.

The scene was processed by investigators, and the body was moved to Kangema Hospital Mortuary, where it is awaiting a postmortem examination.

Police have opened investigations to identify those responsible and determine the circumstances under which the infant died.

Meanwhile, a 41-year-old woman was brutally killed in a late-night attack at a bar in Kimilili Sub-County, Bungoma County, in what police are treating as a case of murder.

The incident occurred at around 11:30 p.m. on March 30, 2026, at Bernard Bar in Kikwechi Village, Kamusinde Location.

The deceased, identified as Linet Omonya, was an employee at the establishment. Police said her ex-boyfriend allegedly stormed into the bar and engaged her in a heated argument before the situation turned violent.

It was established that the suspect picked a kitchen knife during the confrontation and stabbed the deceased on the left side of the chest, killing her on the spot.

Police who responded to the scene found Omonya’s body lying on a couch with a deep stab wound. The body was moved to Sante Funeral Home, where it is awaiting a postmortem examination.

The suspect has since been arrested and is currently in police custody pending arraignment in court.
Police have launched further investigations into the incident.
