Isiolo Governor Abdi Hassan Guyo Not Impeached, Spokesman Says

The Isiolo County Government has strongly dismissed recent claims suggesting that Governor Abdi Ibrahim Hassan has been impeached. In a statement released on June 26, the Governor’s Communications Office clarified that no lawful impeachment process has taken place and that the Governor remains in full office, continuing to perform his constitutional duties.

According to the statement, the alleged impeachment did not follow the legal procedures outlined in the Constitution and Kenyan law. The County Assembly of Isiolo reportedly failed to properly convene or table a valid impeachment motion, a critical step in the legislative process. Moreover, Governor Hassan was not given the opportunity to defend himself—an essential right under Article 50 of the Constitution of Kenya.

“This blatant disregard for due process renders the entire purported impeachment process null and void,” the statement read.

Adding to this, a valid court order remains in effect, suspending any ongoing or planned impeachment proceedings. The Governor’s Office emphasized that the rule of law must be upheld and that no person or institution is above the Constitution.

Citizens of Isiolo County have been urged to disregard any false narratives suggesting a change in leadership. Governor Abdi Ibrahim Hassan remains the lawfully elected head of the county and continues to serve the people with what his office described as “integrity, transparency, and accountability.”

The Governor reaffirmed his commitment to service delivery, the unity of the county, and strict adherence to the law.
