His standout junior performance, including winning the Jacques Plante Memorial Trophy as the QMJHL’s top goaltender in 2009-10, helped pave his path to the pros.

He turned professional with the Blues organization, spending time in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Peoria Rivermen and Chicago Wolves.

Allen made his NHL debut in the 2012 playoffs and earned his first regular-season win in 2013.

He developed into a key contributor for St. Louis, serving as a starter or co-starter for several seasons and helping the team reach the playoffs multiple times.

In 2019, he was part of the Blues’ Stanley Cup-winning roster, primarily as a backup to Jordan Binnington during the postseason run.

Allen was traded to the Montreal Canadiens in 2020, where he excelled as a backup and occasional starter, notably helping the team reach the 2021 Stanley Cup Final (though he did not play in the playoffs).

He later joined the New Jersey Devils in 2024 via trade and signed a contract extension with the team.

Throughout his NHL tenure, Allen has been praised for his professionalism, mentorship of younger players, and ability to perform reliably in tandem or starting roles.
