City Businessman Jimi Wanjigi has been sued for allegedly defrauding businessman Yogesh Patel Ksh56 million.
In his application, Patel stated that he sued Wanjigi over a deposit for a controversial 0.818 acre piece of land in Nairobi’s Westlands area.
Patel further mentioned that a company owned by Wanjigi, his wife Irene Nzisa and Augustine Thuo, sold him a prime piece of land worth Ksh260 million in June, 2018, however, the firm has now transferred the property to someone else.
Additionally, he accused the Wanjigis of refusing to refund his deposit.
Patel also noted that despite having not received his money back, the piece of land initially sold to him could be a public utility and is likely to be among the parcels flagged in the 2006 Ndung’u Land Report.
The report highlighted several grabbed parcels in Kenya’s history.

However, the Daily Nation divulged that the land in question was not among those flagged.
According to records, the land has now been transferred to Cissy Kalunde Musembi, a transaction Patel wants reversed.
The defendants have until June 17 to file their responses to the suit.
