JKIA employee dies after collapsing at workplace

A 60-year-old employee at a business lounge in Terminal 2 of the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) died after suddenly collapsing at his workplace early Thursday morning.

The incident was reported on September 17, 2026.

According to the police report, Namasaka Chesoli, aged approximately 60, collapsed at around 3:40 a.m. while working at Chapex Business Centre Lounges in Terminal 2.

Port Health officers were called to the scene and conducted a head-to-toe examination.

The man was found unresponsive, with both pupils dilated and not reacting to light, police and other witnesses said.

Police officers visited the scene, which was documented by crime scene personnel.

The body was later transferred to the Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital mortuary, where it is being preserved pending an autopsy to establish the cause of death.

Officials said the incident was under investigation.

Meanwhile, the body of an unidentified man believed to be about 28 years old was found in Nyamasaria Market, Kisumu County.

Police said the deceased appeared to be a street-connected person. No visible physical injuries were observed on his body.

The scene was documented by crime scene personnel, after which the body was moved to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) mortuary for preservation pending an autopsy.

Police are expected to use the autopsy and other investigations to establish the cause of death and assist in identifying the deceased.

And a 33-year-old man was found dead near a plot in the Koja area of Nairobi CBD.

The deceased was identified as Samuel Kungu, aged 33.

Police said there were no visible physical injuries on the body.

The scene was processed by the Scenes of Crime personnel, and the body was transferred to Nairobi Funeral Home, where it was preserved pending an autopsy to establish the cause of death.
