John Carlson, born on January 10, 1990, in Natick, Massachusetts, is a professional ice hockey defenseman currently playing for the Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League.
He is known for his smooth skating, elite puck-moving ability, powerful shot from the point, and consistent two-way play that has made him one of the most reliable defensemen of his era.
Drafted 27th overall by the Washington Capitals in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Carlson spent 17 seasons with the Capitals organization before being traded to the Anaheim Ducks in March 2026.
Raised in a hockey-loving family that moved from Massachusetts to New Jersey when he was young, Carlson developed into a franchise cornerstone in Washington.
