Susan Wangari Kamaru, the widow of celebrated Kikuyu Benga musician Joseph Kamaru died last week of cardiac arrest in Rongai at her daughter’s home. She died at the age of 78.
“She died on Saturday at around 10pm, when she visited my sister in Rongai. Our mother has been ailing for three years and had been treated in various hospitals,” said Boniface Maina, her son.
Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has condoled with the family.
“My heartfelt condolences to the family of my late friend and music legend Joseph Kamaru for the demise of his beloved wife Mrs Susan Kamaru. We pray to our Lord to console you at this time of grief. Rest in peace Mama,” tweeted Kabogo.
The husband, Mr Kamaru passed on four months ago at the MP Shah Hospital following breathing difficulties.

Mr Kamaru’s burial in Muthithi village, Murang’a was attended by both President Uhuru Kenyatta and the Deputy President William Ruto.
Mrs Kamaru will be laid to rest next to her husband on Friday.
