Mary Kamangara’s husband Joseph Kori was on Thursday around 9.05 pm set free by DCI officers who picked him up from Gigiri Police Station.
The Nation reports that the businessman walked to freedom after investigating officers could not find evidence linking him to his wife’s brutal murder on January 26.
According to officers at the police station who spoke to the daily, DCI officers picked him up and questioned him for a couple of minutes. They would later return to sign that they had released the suspect.
Juja Police officers had exonerated the father of two from the heinous crime after they established that his car was no where near the scene of crime. Data obtained from his service provider also showed that he was in Ngong during the time his wife was murdered.
The deceased’s relatives who also spoke to the daily indicated that they have been waiting for Kori’s release so that he can bury his wife at their family home in Mweiga.
“After initial investigations showed that Kori was not in any way involved in the murder of his wife, we as a family decided to wait so that he can bury his wife at his home in Mweiga, Nyeri County,” said Wambui’s sister, Ms Esther Kamangara.

The trio had on Thursday last week appeared before Kiambu Senior Principal Magistrate Stella Atambo who ordered that they remain in custody for 14 more days pending investigations.
They will appear in court on February 27.
