Juja Member of Parliament George Koimburi is missing after he was picked dramatically by unknown people outside a church in Kiambu County.

Koimburi was arrested while leaving the church on sundry in Mugutha, and his wife was injured during the scuffle.

Video footage of the incident shows the MP being driven away in a silver Subaru Forester bearing civilian registration plates.

This came as his supporters demanded that security agencies reveal the legislator’s whereabouts.

He is a supporter of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

It is not clear why he was arrested. His wife was injured after being pushed off.

The drama comes in the backdrop of escalating tension between leaders of Gachagua’s DCP party and the government.

Koimburi’s arrest follows Saturday’s chaos during a DCP party meeting in Kakamega, where police officers disrupted the event and clashed with party leaders, including Deputy Party Leader Cleophas Malala.

Gachagua claims that it is evident the government is targeting supporters of the party in an attempt to sabotage their campaign against the government.

The government is yet to issue a statement on the issue.

Meanwhile, Gachagua is calling on Mt Kenya residents to shun artists who paid a visit to Deputy President Kithure Kindiki.

On Friday, the Deputy President held a meeting with leading musicians from the Mt Kenya region, which he said sought to find interventions on ‘exploitative cartels’ in the industry.

“The Creative industry is a multibillion shilling business, and constant engagement with performing artists and all those in that space is imperative to find ways of supporting them through policy and protection of intellectual property rights,” Kindiki stated.

During the meeting, the musicians gave testimonies on the success of the Social Health Insurance Fund.

Now, the former Deputy President has termed the musicians’ actions as a betrayal of the community.

He called on Mt Kenya region to boycott listening to the music of artists who went to Kindiki’s home.

“Those who went to Ruto to ask for forgiveness, if not, I’ll order no one to listen to their music and no clubs will invite them to perform,” said Gachagua.

The former DP further accused an unnamed musician of spreading lies against him and his DCP party.

“Imagine one musician went to accuse me of Mr Yes Sir, that I denied him a chance to vie for MP… A standard two drop up wants to be an MP… A person who doesn’t know even one word in English to be people’s representative?” posed Gachagua.

Kindiki hit back and sought for respect in the debate.
