julie gichuruFormer Citizen Tv anchor Julie Gichuru has been attacked on Twitter for asking the people to allow the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) carry out their mandate.

The Africa Leadership Dialogues host asked that the electoral body officials be ‘guaranteed safety.’

This was after Chairman, Wafula Chebukati disclosed that his officials are being threatened and Commissioner Roselyn Akombe fled the country as she feared for her life.

Ms Gichuru also asked that the voter not be deprived of their right to vote on 26 October.

”The IEBC must be allowed to to their job. Their officers/staff must be guaranteed safety. The voter must not be disenfranchised,” she said.

Some Kenyans accused her of not speaking against police brutality witnessed in parts of  Nyanza region.

Funny they kept mute when Kenyans of lesser gods were killed in cold blood by those charged with the responsibility to protect them.

@WChebukati is on record saying he cant guarantee us a fair election , why vote when the outcome is predetermined?

They syphon tax payers money hence should be accountable, we can't baby sit a criminal commission full of malice and criminality.

If only you had called for credible elections instead some cosmetic peace we wouldn't be talking elections today. Our hope is that this is a message to the ppl who sent you with peace preachment. Have they updated you how they rained "peac" e on the Luos with live bullets?

    — Söze (@ougomandela) October 18, 2017

Can't you see the current body isn"t independent? This means only one thing; No free, fair &credible elections by that team.

Julie has a peace advocate throughout the electioneering period but has been accused of being self serving for supporting President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election.
