Kabando Exits Karua’s Narc Kenya Over Political Differences

Former Mukurwe-ini MP Kabando wa Kabando has announced his exit from Martha Karua-led Narc-Kenya party.

The former lawmaker on Tuesday said he has written to the Registrar of Political Parties asking to be delisted from the party.

The advocate cited ideological differences as the reason for his exit.

“As a matter of conscience and principle, I have instructed Office of the Registrar of Political Parties to deregister I, Hon Kabando wa Kabando, from Narc Kenya. I believe in leadership teamwork and honesty. I detest chicanery and corruption. I thank Martha Karua and wish her well in Azimio ventures,” Kabando said.

Kabando also noted that things have changed since he joined the party back in March. He, however, stated that he is still committed to fighting corruption and impunity.

He disclosed that the decision to join Narc Kenya, which is affiliated with Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance coalition party, was based on the desire to reform the National Rainbow Alliance, which ousted the Moi regime after 24 years in power.

“My family, confidants, allies, friends, and colleagues know of my tenacious support and trust in Martha Karua to compliment Raila Odinga in our elusive quest to rekindle a national rainbow to crash graft and impunity. I regret we’ve lost it. Hopefully, we’ll reconnect better soon,” Kabando added.

However, the ex-lawmaker affirmed that he would continue to bravely perform his patriotic duty by holding the Kenya Kwanza administration responsible.

He claimed that while the Azimio camp is on a similar path, the group is using anti-democratic tactics, and he wants to distance himself from that.

“I’ll continue to boldly and independently, or in league with like-minded souls, play my patriotic part to keep President Ruto’s increasingly rogue regime in check. Sadly, neither ODM nor Narc Kenya is acting institutionally in this endeavour. Cultistic politics is bad for democracy,” Kabando said.

Karua on her part, wished Kabando well in his endeavours.

“Wish you well too Au revoir,” she tweeted.

Kabando ditched Safina Party for Narc Kenya in March 2022 as he sought to become Nyeri Senator.

He lost to UDA’s Wahome wa Matinga.
