Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi Meets Jemutai Comedian, Offers Support

Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has met comedian Stellah Jemutai Koitie, popularly known as Jemutai Comedian, and pledged his support following her recent appeal for help.

Sudi said he was moved by Jemutai’s emotional appeal on social media and decided to meet her to explore ways of supporting her and the wider creative industry.

The MP said he was determined to create opportunities for creatives to earn a decent living while building a strong foundation for future generations.

“Following her emotional appeal on social media, I was moved by Stellah Jemutai Koitie, alias Jemutai Comedian – Chibambe, who had even deactivated her social media accounts,” Sudi said.

“Today, I made a point of meeting her to offer my support in my own small way, to help her get back on her feet and to explore how we can take creative arts and stand-up comedy to the next level.”

Jemutai’s social media accounts were found to be unavailable on August 17, 2026, shortly after she publicly appealed for support following her 11th anniversary celebration in Eldoret.

Jemutai said the anniversary celebration was meant to mark 11 years of making Kenyans laugh, representing her community and entertaining audiences through comedy.

However, she said the support she expected from some leaders did not materialise despite what she described as prior commitments to attend or support the event.

The comedian said the situation was disappointing, particularly because she had witnessed leaders support other artists.

She subsequently appealed to Kenyans who had followed and supported her career over the years to stand with her during the difficult period.

Jemutai said the anniversary event had left her with financial obligations to service providers and creatives who contributed to making the celebration possible.
