Sáenz first gained public attention through beauty pageants, representing Bogotá in Miss Colombia 1989.

She has since balanced a successful career with family life, marrying actor Sebastián Martínez in 2008.

Siblings

Kathy has two sisters, Shirley Sáenz and Julie Pauline Sáenz, both having been crowned Miss Colombia—Shirley in 1977 and Julie in 1982.

The three sisters, often referred to as a dynasty in Colombian pageantry, each represented Bogotá in the national contest across different decades, highlighting their collective influence and success in the public eye.

Career

Sáenz launched her professional journey in the early 1990s, making her acting debut in 1993 with the telenovela “La maldición del paraíso,” which marked the beginning of a prolific career in Colombian television.

Sáenz has garnered notable honors for her contributions to Colombian television, including the prestigious India Catalina Award for Best Actress in a Telenovela in 2006 for her compelling performance in “Juegos Prohibidos.”

She followed this with another India Catalina win in 2008 for Best Antagonistic Actress in a Telenovela or Series, believed to be for her work in “Pura Sangre.”

Her talent was further acknowledged at the Cartagena Film Festival, where she received an award for Juegos Prohibidos.
