KEMSA to Suspend Medical Supplies Dispatch During Annual Stock-Take

The Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) has announced the temporary closure of its Nairobi and Regional Distribution Centres to facilitate its annual stock-taking exercise.
In a notice issued on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, KEMSA said the exercise will run from Monday, July 6, to Friday, July 10, 2026.
The authority stated that during the stock-taking period, the receipt and dispatch of medical supplies will be suspended across all its distribution centres.
“Only emergency cases shall be attended to during this period,” KEMSA said in the notice.
KEMSA advised its customers and stakeholders to plan accordingly to avoid disruptions in the supply of essential medical commodities.
Normal operations are expected to resume on Monday, July 13, 2026.
Meanwhile, the authority has also invited bids for two tenders, including the disposal of various obsolete and unserviceable assets and the provision of transportation services for mosquito net containers to designated drop-off points, return of containers to shipping lines, and last-mile distribution services to issuing centres.
According to KEMSA, both tenders will close on June 23, 2026.
