KeNHA Announces Partial Closure of Waiyaki Way

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced the temporary partial closure of a section of Waiyaki Way (A8 Road) in Nairobi to allow for highway maintenance works.
The affected section is between Kempinski and the Museum Hill Interchange on the Mombasa-bound lanes.
According to a notice issued by KeNHA Director General Luka Kimeli, the closure will take effect on Thursday, October 8, 2026, and remain in place until Saturday, November 7, 2026.
Kimeli said the temporary closure is necessary to facilitate maintenance works on the road section.
“All motorists intending to use Waiyaki Way during this period will utilize the unclosed sections of this road as well as consider using alternative routes to ensure minimal traffic disruption,” Kimeli said.
Motorists have been advised to follow the proposed traffic management plan and cooperate with police officers and traffic marshals deployed to the area.
KeNHA urged road users to exercise caution and plan their journeys in advance to minimise delays during the maintenance period.
Normal traffic operations on the affected section will resume once the maintenance works are completed.
