Kenya And Oman Sign MoU To Boost Blue Economy And Fisheries

Kenya and the Sultanate of Oman have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in the blue economy and fisheries sector.

Mining and Blue Economy Cabinet Secretary Hassan Joho announced that the agreement was signed by Oman’s Foreign Minister, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi.

“This MoU advances our mutual interests and partnerships in the blue economy and fisheries. Areas of cooperation include the exchange of information, research and technology, capacity building for fish farmers, and increased trade and investment,” Joho stated.

He emphasized that Kenya would benefit significantly from Oman’s expertise in the sector.

He also directed Blue Economy and Fisheries Principal Secretary Betsy Njagi, who witnessed the signing, to fast-track the development of an implementation framework in collaboration with her Omani counterpart.
