Kenya Mori, born Kenya Mori Ochoa on January 15, 1976, in Montevideo, Uruguay, is a Uruguayan-born Mexican actress known for her contributions to telenovelas and films.

She comes from a family with mixed heritage, as her father, Yuyi Mori, is of Japanese-Uruguayan descent, and her mother, Rosario Ochoa, is Mexican.

Raised in a multicultural environment, Mori pursued her passion for acting by studying at TV Azteca’s Centro de Formación Actoral (CEFAT), which laid the foundation for her career in the entertainment industry.

Although she has maintained a relatively low profile compared to some family members, her work spans over a decade.

She made her debut in the telenovela “Tres Veces Sofía” from 1998 to 1999, marking her entry into Mexican television.

This was followed by a role in “Romántica Obsesión” in 1999, where she continued to build her presence in the genre.

In 2000, Mori transitioned to film with “El precio de nuestra sangre,” portraying the character Annabella, and also appeared in the telenovela “El amor no es como lo pintan” as Alma de Galán in a supporting capacity.

Her film work continued with “La banda de los tanditos” in 2002 and “El secreto oculto” in 2003, where she played Mariana.

That same year, she took on supporting roles in the telenovelas “Enamórate” as Jimena and “La Hija del Jardinero” as Carolina “Carol” de la Vega from 2003 to 2004.

Later projects included appearances in “Decisiones” as Selena and Elsa in two episodes between 2006 and 2008, as well as roles in “Reevolución” in 2007 and episodes of “Tough Love” from 2006 to 2007.

Mori’s career, active primarily from 1998 to 2009, showcased her versatility in both leading and supporting roles across television and film, often in dramatic and romantic narratives typical of Mexican productions.

    Accolades

Mori’s work has contributed to the success of the projects she was involved in, earning her recognition among audiences and peers in the Mexican entertainment industry for her dedication and talent.

While her sister Bárbara has garnered notable accolades like TVyNovelas Awards, Kenya’s contributions remain valued for their consistency and the depth she brought to her characters.
