Kenya will now be able to export local avocados into the Mauritian market.
This is following approval of the products by the Mauritius government, a day after President Uhuru visited the Indian Ocean island nation.
Announcing the new deal on Wednesday, Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Interior and Foreign Affairs Monica Juma said other local products now accepted in the country include baby carrots and broccoli.
“Appreciating Kenya’s avocado that is now approved to get into the Mauritian market…” a tweet from Amb. Juma reads.
The Cabinet Secretary is among state officers who accompanied the president in his three-day state visit.
The visit is aimed at boosting the economic, cultural and social ties between the two nations.
During his visit, President Kenyatta will attend a business forum organised by the Mauritius Economic Development Board in collaboration with the Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) and the Kenya Investment Authority.

The business forum is aimed at showcasing trade and investment opportunities in Mauritius and Kenya.
Also in the Kenyan delegation is Education Cabinet secretary George Magoha among other state officials.
