Tana River County Commissioner has warned of an impending arrests for Kenyans who have not registered for the Huduma Namba by the deadline date.

According to the commissioner, Oning’oi Ole’sosio, those who will not register for the much hyped huduma namba will be considered as foreigners and a threat to national security.

Speaking to the Nation, Ole’sosio noted that the registration is necessary to guarantee national security and ensure efficient delivery of services.

The Tana River County boss mentioned that those against the registration have a hidden agenda.

He stated: “Last year after the abduction of an Italian volunteer by militia, we arrested one of the key suspects connected to the subsequent murder.

“He had an ID but when we forwarded it to the National Registration Bureau, we were told the owner of the document was deceased.”

Commissioner Ole’sosio further noted that the Namba will help the authorities distinguish Kenyan citizens from foreigners who come to the country to carry out criminal activities.

He added that the county security team had discovered a syndicate involving people from a certain community who routinely hire out their ID cards to foreigners to facilitate them in criminal activities.
