Kenyans Suspicious of Judge James Wakiaga after Threatening Media Over Monica Kimani’s Murder Trial

Kenyans have reacted to Justice James Wakiaga’s threat to the media on publishing stories linked to Monica Kimani’s murder.
Kenyans online said that his excuse saying that he is an ‘Old school judge’ was not enough to gag the media. A tweep even alleged that the judge was being used as an agent to kill the case. Many have have questioned why Justice Jessie Lessit recused herself from the matter.

A whats app screen shot has been making rounds on the internet indicating that Deputy President William Ruto has a hand in the case and that the government has a hand in the issue as the murder of Monica was a diplomatic issue.

Judge James Wakiaga comes out as biased and compromised. He should withdraw from the case. Trying to intimidate anyone with "I am old school" is archaic and belongs to the history bins. People will go to jail defending rights your honour.

Justice Wakiaga stated that his attitude toward the media was negative and warned them to stop publishing unauthenticated reports.
“My attitude towards these people (media) is negative!…Those statements that you keep on telling us about this case, stop writing them from now,” he said.
“I am an old-school judge… if I am influenced before a case, I get upset,” he continued
He said that although Kenyans had a right to information on the proceedings the media reports were contravening the principle of sub judice which states that a matter before the court is not subject to public discussion elsewhere.
