The Ministry of Health has confirmed 580 new cases of the novel coronavirus disease from 5,458 samples tested in the last 24 hours.
The number of confirmed cases in the country now stands at 29,334.
Of the new cases, 530 are Kenyans and 50 foreigners. 336 are male and 244 female.
Health Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Mercy Mwangangi said age-wise, the youngest is a one-year-old infant while the oldest is 92 years old.
198 more patients have recovered from the disease, bringing the total number of recoveries in the country so far to 15,298.
On a sad note, Dr Mwangangi said five more patients have succumbed to the disease in the same period raising Kenya’s death toll to 465.

A senior pulmonologist Dr Ndambuki Mboloi is among those who have now succumbed to the virus.
Dr Mboloi succumbed to severe Covid-19 disease on Thursday, according to the Kenya Medical Practitioners Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU).
The union called for the compensation of health workers by the government.
“The medical fraternity is once again in mourning due to the loss of a Senior Pulmonologist Dr Ndambuki Mboloi who succumbed to severe COVID-19 disease. Condolences to the family. May his soul rest in eternal peace. GOK MUST roll out the Compensation of frontline Healthcare workers,” KMPDU said in a tweet.
