President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday made an impromptu visit to Uhuru Gardens Primary School in Langata ahead of their Science, Kiswahili and Insha examinations.
Addressing the candidates, the head of state asked them to maintain integrity as they sit for their examinations.
“Do not be under pressure to do anything that is wrong, just do your best and my promise is so long as you have done your best, everyone of you will find a place in secondary school,” the President said.
The exams started on Tuesday and end on Thursday with heightened security in areas like Garissa.
President Kenyatta has insisted that parents aiding their children in exam cheating risk jail term.
“Children in Standard 8 cannot raise the huge amounts of money to buy examinations. Where does a child get Sh100,000 to pay for a stolen exam? It must be their parents who are paying,” he said as he sent a resounding warning to teachers involved in exam malpractices.
Education CS Amina Mohamed and KNEC Chairman Prof George Magoha have maintained that there are zero chances of this year’s exams getting leaked.
