Key Suspect Arrested as Two Missing Minors Rescued in Kisauni

Detectives in Kisauni Sub-County have arrested a key suspect in connection with the alleged abduction of two minors who went missing on August 27, 2026.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said in a statement on Sunday that the children were successfully rescued following investigations into their disappearance.

According to the DCI, investigations established that Caleb Okumu Ngwena, allegedly acting with an accomplice who remains at large, abducted the two children on August 25, 2026, at Sensera in Kiembeni.

The suspects allegedly forced the minors to cut off communication with their families before moving them to Kiambu County.

The children were allegedly confined in an empty room for several days.

The DCI said the principal suspect is also alleged to have sexually assaulted one of the minors.

The two minors were later released, with the suspects allegedly threatening to kill them if they disclosed what had happened.

Following their rescue, detectives launched further investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and identify other people who may have been involved.

The arrested suspect is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday, September 7, 2026.

He is expected to face charges of defilement, kidnapping and child trafficking.

The DCI said investigations remain active as detectives work to identify and arrest the second suspect who is still at large.

The agency said it would continue pursuing individuals suspected of involvement in crimes against children.

“The Directorate of Criminal Investigations reminds the public that kidnapping, defilement and child trafficking are grave offences that rob children of their innocence, safety and future. Anyone involved in the trafficking, exploitation or abuse of children — or who facilitates such crimes — will be relentlessly pursued and brought to justice,” the DCI said.
